Synopsis

The Breast Screening Study is a pilot protocol for screening women at high risk for breast cancer with MRI and ultrasound. This protocol is meant to demonstrate the feasibility of using MRI to screen high-risk patients for breast cancer. In particular, researchers hope to demonstrate that the imaging and biopsy procedures are reliable. It is hoped that the results of this protocol will dictate the need for further formal study of MRI as a screening test for breast cancer. This study closed to accrual in 2003. The data is currently being analyzed in preparation for publication.
